CONCEPT / REFLECTION
Whale emerged from a desire to explore what lies beneath the surface of perception.
In darkness, the familiar becomes unfamiliar. Voices lose their ordinary meaning and return as distant calls that move through space and resonate through the body. The work invites a shift in awareness, where listening becomes a physical experience and presence emerges through sound.
Many of the questions that continue to guide my practice first surfaced here: how perception shapes reality, how identity shifts through experience, and how transformation can occur through encounters with the unseen.

Whale
2014-15 | INTERACTIVE AUDIO INSTALLATION
Whale emerged from a period of profound introspection.
It explores transformation through sound and perception. In complete darkness, visitors hear their own voices transformed into whale sounds that travel through the space and resonate through their bodies. As language dissolves into sound, the work invites an encounter with the unknown dimensions of the self, where familiar voices become distant, unfamiliar, and deeply felt.
