DANCING BODIES
2020 | BODY, TOUCH AND PARTICIPATORY SOUND
Dancing Bodies explores how touch can become a form of musical expression. Using an interactive touch sensor system, dancers generate an evolving soundscape through skin-to-skin contact, transforming physical interaction into a shared audiovisual performance.
The project continues my interest in sensory environments, participation, and the relationship between the body and technology.
Rather than treating technology as something external to the performer, Dancing Bodies investigates how the body itself can function as an interface.
Touch becomes both choreography and instrument. As performers connect with one another, their movements generate shifting sounds inspired by birds, forests, and oceans, creating an environment shaped through collective physical interaction.
Dancing Bodies remains an open research project. I imagine expanding the system through interactive textiles, floor vibration, and spatial sound, allowing performers to shape an immersive environment where movement is experienced not only visually, but through the entire body.
