BRAIN

2025 | VIDEO ART / AI, MEMORY AND EXTENDED COGNITION

Brain is a digital artwork exploring memory, perception, and the constantly changing nature of consciousness.

Drawing from my research into neuroplasticity and the brain's capacity for transformation, the work imagines the mind as a living landscape shaped by experience, sensation, and time.

Finalist in "Art Arrives at

Colombo" competition

Trained on my own archive of moving images developed over the past decade, Brain uses AI not as a tool for automation but as a creative collaborator capable of reorganizing visual memory into new forms.

The resulting imagery exists between recognition and abstraction, where fragments of previous works dissolve, overlap, and re-emerge as unfamiliar landscapes. By allowing AI to learn from my evolving visual language, the project investigates how machine learning can extend artistic imagination, revealing unexpected relationships between images, memory, and perception.

Rather than replacing authorship, Brain asks what happens when an artist's accumulated visual history becomes the foundation for a second form of cognition, transforming a decade of research into body, perception, immersive environments, and identity into continuously evolving new images.

VISUAL ARCHIVE

The work draws from a lineage of video and installation works developed through dance, neuroplasticity, Tibetan Buddhist imagery, multisensory environments, and immersive installation.

Art Arrives in Colombo Award Finalist

MNAC do Chiado, Lisbon, Portugal, 2025

Brain was presented at the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado as one of the finalists of the Art Arrives in Colombo competition.
